I'm not willing to live on ramen noodles and microwavable pizza but I won't be wealthy either.. Could someone give me an estimate of monthly cost for food? Thanks!

I spend the least when I go to Trader Joes or Uwajamaya. Id say you can do it on $70 a month. And when youre REALLY broke, its all about fresh trout at the Market for like $2.50 each.

$70.00 a month???
I guess you could survive on that if you ate nothing but ramen noodles and peanut butter sandwiches.
$200.00 a month is more realistic for 1 person. That comes to about $2.22 a meal.

Fresh fish is pretty inexpensive? That's good news if that's so.

Yeah if you like trout! haha

Actually during salmon season you can pick up a whole fresh sockeye salmon for like $15 at QFC. I did that and it lasted me all week.

Oh and Seattle has awesomely cheap happy hour food if you know where to look.

Yeah, I think $200 a month for groceries is a reasonable amount for a single guy. That doesn't include eating out.

Should be the same as anywhere, food is as cheap as you want to make it. There is not special Seattle fee which is different than where you live now.

You can swing it for free if you want. I know some Romanians who have jobs, nice cars, etc, and they go to the "Free Store" (translated from their language). It is the Food Bank. The food bank gives them bundles of goods, some things they don't want, those are gathered up and sold by shipping container to Romania also. So next time you donate food to a local boyscout...

...you should still donate. Because for every jerkwad who abuses the system, there are 2 others who actually rely on it.
