I can and always have been. Been a Mariners fan since the 1990's. I am basically a displaced Mariners fan, as I live where the Atlanta Braves play. Never was a fan of the Braves.

Well, the M's are doing better this year. 31-29 and 2nd place. Let's hope for first place.

Especially considering how badly the Mariners sucked last year, there's a lot to be excited about. Starting pitching has been awesome!
Last season they were so weak offensively. Hitting's a little better this year, and shows promise. They just brought up Halman from AAA, and he's had 7 hits in the last 2 games.

Last year, dead last, this year, could be a playoff year. Things are are looking up. At least there are some things being done right this year.

I think the new manager, Wedge, is making a difference too. He has this crazed look in his eyes, looks like a maniac, and it seems like he's getting results

True, a new manager is making the difference. I miss the days of the mid 90's Mariners. I still remember those days.

You may have answered this already, G_M, but is it because of the Seattle Mariners that you renamed yourself???

That's part of the reason. Been a Mariners fan since the 90's. Another reason is that I used to be known by my old username pirate_lafitte. I randomly named myself pirate_lafitte because I wanted a nautical sounding name and Jean Lafitte just happened to be the one pirate I thought of. I changed it because I found out some disturbing information about Jean Lafitte. I found out he was a slave trader, and for that reason, changed my name. I didn't even know he was a slave trader until a long time later. Being descended from slaves, I wouldn't knowingly give myself a username after a slave trader.

But yes, the Mariners were part of the reason. i haven't been asked this until now.

I'm glad I asked, and your reasons make perfect sense. I didn't know Lafitte was a slave trader either. The things one learns on C-D!!!
