Hello,
We are going to be house hunting in Seattle next week and I am concerned about commute times. My husband will be working on Lake Union. My husband wants to buy a newer house which means buying further away from his work. He is looking at areas like Renton. I prefer to live in north seattle. Does anyone know the commute time between:
Renton and Lake Union?
Greenwood and Lake Union?
Shoreline and Lake Union?
Thanks!!!

Default Driving?

I have a few questions and things to say

1) Do you have kids? Which makes me wonder if the schools are important.

2) What's "too long" of a commute?

3) will he take mass transit?

Most people in Seattle, expecially to Downtown or close by there like Lake Union will bus there. Most of the buses are filled with professionals. Parking will kill you.

With that said - I like near Greenwood in the Greenlake area - it takes 20 minutes by bus. I'd say over 30 minutes if you drive. As I said earlier, bussing is more efficient time wise

Renton - is going to take A WHILE!!! Driving or bussing - Bus will take about 45 minutes - but I'd say at leat an hour if you decide to drive - maybe and hour and a half depending on the traffic since you have to drive PAST downtown

Living North is best to get to Lake Union becausethen you don't have to drive all the through DOwntown like you would south.

And this is just my opinion - but the North communities are nicer areas then the South ones BUT! There are good spots either way.

I just wanted to say hello, as my husband and I just moved last week from Seattle. Unfortunately I don't know much about commutes yet!
