I lived in Bremerton for about 15 years, now in Oregon heading back to the beautiful NW!! My husband will be working in Everett for about 3 mos. then transfering to downtown Seattle area. I have 2 school aged kids and am trying to get advice on where the best place to live would be. I don't mind a small commute to save money on rentals, but don't want to live in bad areas either. Any suggestions?

I don't have kids, but I've always heard the Edmonds School District is good. It includes Edmonds, Lynnwood, Mountlake Terrace, Brier (I think), and maybe some other areas. It'd put you between Seattle and Everett, and you could easily find a place in a nice neighborhood at a reasonable cost. The commute to Seattle might not be considered a "small commute," but it's easy enough with the Lynnwood Transit Center right there, and there are park and rides in Edmonds and Mountlake Terrace.
