We all know by now about the grey sky's and rains in the winter months around the Seattle area. But what about the temps? Does it go down to 35-40 and stay there most of the winter? or is it not uncommon to be in the 50's in January?

42 and raining or overcast is the most common forecast. It dips into the 30s though at night (and sometimes during the day). It was down in the teens this winter and we had more snow than usual.

Being in the 50s in January is not necessarily uncommon but more common is what mayfair has said. 42 and raining or overcast is typical.

The cold rain (35-45 degrees) may not sound bad but when your clothes get wet and the wind is blowing, it's downright miserable. Of course when you're wearing proper clothing, it might not be bad but gortex on top of layers of clothing isn't my idea of outdoor fun. It wasn't bad when I was younger. In the Boy Scouts, we regularly camped in the cold rain but looking back on it, I would still much rather be camping in dry warmer weather. I can remember hiking in the Cascades and the Olympics in October and how wretched it was. The only good memories were being around my fellow Scouts who were just as miserable.

It is between 30 - 50 for 10 months of the year (this is day time temp)

And then in June you get 50s and 60s

70 and 80s in July and August

I love it right at 85, you see why I'm always cold here

Remember it takes ALL DAY LONG to get to the high! So if it says it will be 65? Then it's in the 50s all day long and then somewhere around 4 pm it might get near 65.

This morning it was 50 degrees and misting- that's not unusual in June. Like Citygirl said- it takes awhile for the temp to creep up. It might reach 60 degrees today if we're lucky.

This is the "cool misty rain" people talk about (spring/summer). In winter br prepared for the frigid, COLD rain.
