Hi, I am moving to Seattle soon and I am looking at condos in the Capitol Hill area. I found a few that are very nice and now I am considering a condo on 17th and E Union St. Could someone tell me how nice the neighborhood is? Is it safe and convenient?

Thanks.

It is very convenient to downtown, and the neighborhood isn't as bad as other parts of the CD. That stretch of 17th between Union and Spring has a really interesting collection of older buildings that are all themed to different architectural styles. I've always been curious about the story behind them.

The neighborhood is incredibly convenient, and has a couple of big pluses. Trader Joe's is just a few blocks away, Piecora's Pizza is pretty good and close by, and the Central Cinema is also nearby, independent, and serves good food.
Union is a fairly busy street, and as you go further east on E. Union it does become somewhat less savory.
I used to live a few blocks away at 17th and Denny. I liked living there.

Just a heads up I have no clue where you are from but one thing to consider is that you really cannot be...lets say...conservative and live there.
