I love MRE's. Mine don't get stale because I'm always eating one. Of course there are a few that never get picked. Like cheese and vegetable omelet. Or, the vege burger.

But the tortellini is as good as you can get in an Italian restaurant.

Ok all people I know called Wilson are now no longer allowed to select the restaurant if we decide to go Italian.

MRE's contain good amounts of protein, carbs and fat, but are notoriously lacking in fiber and minerals. Perhaps your symptoms may be caused by that?

So does guano, bugs and assorted weeds. These were better when there were 3 smokes and a 2 bottles of tabasco sauces. They will bind you up too. And Wilson I am goona back up Gungnir on this one

I gotta check out my supply, as I suspect it is a moving ball of grubs about now.

I'm betting you have never eaten an MRE. Am I right or am I right?

No they don't. I'll go down and get one and post up the fiber content if you post up some frozen entree you think is better. And, I don't mean a breakfast bagel sandwich.

Uh, I don't eat frozen entrees either, as long as I have a choice! Nearly all the meals served up at Casa Nighteyes are fresh-cooked, typically from scratch (though we may use canned vegetables and tomatoes as ingredients in more complex dishes).

Please don't misunderstand. I'm all for MRE's as an occasional or short-term emergency food. I just know that over the long term, a MRE-only diet creates all kinds of problems. I also know, from personal experience, that some people don't tolerate them very well from the get-go.

A long-term C-Ration diet caused similar problems. Use the C-Rat coffee to get things moving, and the C-Rat peanut butter to shut 'em down again.

A C Ration has no relevance to an MRE. And, all kinds of people do not tolerate all kinds of foods. And I didn't say you eat frozen entrees, I said that the MRE was high in fiber and minerals in contradiction to your statement. If you happen to know the fiber and mineral count of your casaNighteyes meal, let's compare that.

Here's the tortellini menu which probably has more dietary fiber than you get in two days. the tortellini has 280 calories with 10 grams of fat:

Cheese Tortellini
Applesauce
Granola Bar
Peanut Butter
Crackers

PAcket B

coffee
cream sub
sugar
salt
gum
matches
tissue
towelette
candy: vanilla caramels; tootsie rolls

I've eaten many ORPs (also known as Rat-Packs) the British Equivalent, and I've also stolen (while on exercise) many MRE's from the Rangers (typical squad games, go steal a couple of cases of the Rangers MRE's while stopping them stealing our ORPs).

IIRC Cheese Tortellini is #12 or #13, it's classed as one of the best, but personally I've always find it to taste a little like Kraft Mac n Cheese, but made with pencil erasers. The Beef Stew #9 and Four Fingers of Death #6 were ok though.
