It seems like all the so-called 'battery-powered' small TVs for sale actually have a built-in battery, that after a couple hours has to be charged with...guess what? Electricity!
Anyone know where I can get a small TV that truly runs on JUST (removable) batteries and doesn't rely on charging with electricity?
I don't but wonder what you would do with it, if you found one? Since the switch away from annalog i don't think that with out cable hooked up it will work.
I have a 12 volt for my van and since that switch it will only work in a city if i park next to a tv station, and then not very well.

You would be incorrect, TV is still transmitted OTA (Over The Air), just in digital format instead of anolog.
NH Dave, lets just say I go to the beach, sit on the sand and watch tv, what is needed to pick up the signal? Where I live there is 0 tv with out a satilite dish, and can't get cable.
The tv in the van may take batterys I am not sure but it does run on 12 dcv or 120 acv. It won't work out back a bit.
All you need is a digital capable TV or an older style analog TV with a digital converter, and obviously the presence of a TV signal from a local station, the range on digital TV transmissions seems to be a bit less than the old analog method.

Yep and I live South of New Orleans and when a hurricane comes we bug out, but after the cable and most of the power lines or down so if I still have a home what option I have, well the idiots in Washington figured in all there wisdom what we needed was billions of dollars on crappy reception digital format, TV what a bunch of idiots. You could buy a analog b/w tv for 25$'s with am/fm too boot that you could pick up stations from 200 miles away and run on batteries for day's if need be till thangs got back to normal. The digital tv's for say 100$'s may pick up a station from a few milrs away if nuthen is in the way or your in the right part of the house. Uncle Sam screwed us again, good job.
I have a older Sony Watchman, runs on batteries. Since the digital switch I have not tried to use it. Wonder if a digital converter could be hooked up to it.
