I just wanted to say Merry Christmas to all of my friends who write and read the Self-Sufficiency and Prepareness threads on City Data. I also wanted to post a link to a short video that has to do with being prepared.
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to all from here, as well!
Christmas, with its gift-giving tradition, is a great time to put a little tack under someone's seat, someone you feel should be preparing -- but isn't. A good book about survivalism, or even a scary scenario about where things could end up from even a local hurricane or other weather event, a news printout, anything at all, with a "starter" kit or list of items that would be great to have on hand if the unthinkable occurs.
Yes, Nor'easter, I've been doing that for years with gifts of car emergency kits, non-BPA water bottles, 1st aid kits for the home, LED flashlights, solar small appliance chargers, wool blankets, wool socks, etc... . Stealthy gift giving to my sheeple friends and family. Preparedness without offending during Christmas.
Should be able to find one around here though. They had one go through the ice and drown here last week. Wouldn't have wanted to see that one.
Here's my Christmas picture for now:
