So a person is in a bunker with a couple of years of some boxed food with no radio, tv or computer. No hospital, jobs, school, places to go.....
They are just there all day under the ground thinking about all their family, friends and the world which is now dead and over.
Unless I'm missing something, what would be the point?

I think there are people out there taking advantage and getting rich off of other people's fears.

Well, some people otherwise destined for concentration camps survived much of WWII in such a manner of being secluded. I guess it all depends on the will to live and if one sees the sacrifice of trying to survive as worth it. Hopefully none of us will ever have to make such a choice.

I hope that "Big Box" stores begin selling "middle class" and "economy" doomsday bunker kits.

I am old enough to remmeber when nuclear shlters were much more common. I still know eher manyare located. Per centage number can fool one at just now common such shelter now days really are. I would think that tornado shelter tho are becoming more common as people are bombbarded with media everytime a area is hit rather than just reading it later if at all. Also with people moving so much i their life those moving into the areas will like make it more of a priority. I had a freid who move in to tornado alley and he had one put in his yard before catully moving there after buying.

MO Gal will be in the surviving last few shelter or no. Me thinks you read something incorrectly Chris.

Maybe like me she wouldn't want to survive a YS event, if it is full blown, with a 5 years long winter.

I could probably survive even that, but there really isn't any point.

These shelters are a wild hoot! Look like lots of fun so long as your not stuck in one with 950 strangers. I guess they wouldn't be strangers very long.

What scares me most is if Nancy or one of her ilk were stuck in there with me. That would be a torcher I could never servive.

Who says there is none of your criteria to be had in such a shelter? Many of those items would be standard in such shelters, just limited in use, and for a reason, beside what's on sale.

Most any adults would be able to teach their kids as they see fit, which with a little luck might be as good as private school.

There sure would be time for that with no shopping malls, and no internet to waste a lot of time dinkin' around.

Many adults have some medical training too, and many have pretty good kits, so not everything would be lost.

Yeah it will be grim for those un-fit, elderly and weak, who depend on doctors and meds to live everyday, but then survival is for the fittest, not the weak. Nature rules that, man has only recently tried to challange such things. Probably seems harsh, but the law of nature will prevail, long after mankind is gone.

Even shelters are only as good as the location, and that all depends on the problem. If the problem is all hell breaks loose on a global scale and the shelter is at ground 0 it's toast anyway.

Life is a gamble and all gambles are full of risk.
