This may belong in health & wellness, but I think these have a unique application in self-sufficiency & preparedness.

I think that dehydration is the biggest danger in a disaster lasting a week or more. After reading up on the benefits of chia seeds, I've decided to add them to my survival kit. My wife got them because they're supposed to help with energy and weightloss, but athletes eat them to stay hydrated. Check it out:

Been experimenting with them for a few years. They are somewhat known in 'runners' circles, as well, which is where I learned of them. Mixed results from my view, but I think it has its place, nonetheless.

Thanks for the heads up about chia seeds. I bought my first bag last week and have already noticed good results. I've passed enough on to friends and family to try out (I really like them) that I need to think about getting another bag!
