It's not what gun you have. It's your courage and determination. We need more grannies like this one.
In my opinion, one real incident is worth a thousand opinions.

A .410 is basically a handheld .45 long colt. I have slugs for my Rossi .410 double barrel.
Great little shotgun!
Having been a military gunsmith, and civilian gunsmith currently, I think that came out backa$$wards,
A .410 is a SHOULDER FIRED .45 Long Colt, the .45 Long Colt being the handgun version...
Either way, it's incorrect from a technical standpoint, and none to bright from a safety standpoint.
There are firearms built that will allow you to fire .45 Long Colt and .410 bore shotgun shells, but it's not the safest thing in the world...
The swap comes from guys shooting .45-70 rifle cartridges in .410 Shot Guns, which resulted in some really horrifying failures.
Since the government was giving away .45-70 ammunition for anyone that cared to say they were going to shoot 'Buffalo',
The guys tried the cartridges in anything and everything.
One popular conversion at the time was to drill out smaller caliber firearms and chamber the firearm for the .45-70 rounds since they were free or very cheap... Again, with catastrophic results in a lot of cases!
ANYWAY...
A simple break down shot gun frame, and different top ends in different calibers is a VERY good way to do things!
You can have a firearm that shoots about any ammo you can find, from .22 Short ammo up to .458 Winchester off the same frame.
Top ends are NOT controlled by NFA rules, so you can buy them directly without any special license or paperwork,
And they are much cheaper than buying the entire firearm for a dedicated caliber.
These firearms are usually as simple and rugged as they come, so they make GREAT survival tools, and since they are single shot double barrel, they are usually legal in all states...

Don't know where you got your information, but you deserve a refund because you are wrong.. A 410 is basically a shotgun, it can be a single shot, pump, semi auto, or even a side by side, but it is anything except a 45 Colt. And while we are at it, there is no such cartridge as a 45 long Colt, that is a term used by the un-informed when they intend to speak of the 45 Colt cartridge. Some people think because there was once a 38 Long Colt, there is a 45 Long Colt, not true. The 45 Colt cartridge was designed for a handgun, the 410 shotshell was designed for a smooth bore gun known as a shotgun and held to the shoulder for firing. Smooth bore guns must have a barrel length of at least 18", which certainly is not a handgun.
In the right thread it shot a 45 or a 410, it's called the judge I believe and is rather popular down south.
Great trail gun for water mocassins in the marsh, just point and shoot.
Made by Taurus.
