So you're actually set up to use GMRS rather than just FRS! (Not that, if the S really does HTF, anyone is really gonna care which frequencies we use...)
Whew! For a moment there...
Yeah, I keep forgetting that we're GMRS hybrid since only one other (part-time) person out here (within range) is and our tiny loose collection of homesteads normally check in on FRS channels. But we can, essentially, have private communications between the two of us over a slightly longer distance by switching to a GMRS frequency.
And btw, if anyone's interested in how Citizen's Band (CB) is faring in general, I found a thread over on the San Antonio forum. Its not all-inclusive, but it is informative.
I myself, have a multi-band HF/VHF/UHF Kenwood ham radio in the house...this radio serves as my "hobby" radio, for shooting skip on the HF bands, as well as performing any emergency work on 2 M and/or 70 CM. I also have in the house, a Uniden Bearcat scanner for scanning frequencies on CB, Fire, Police, EMS, Weather, etc., and a Midland weather radio upstairs for severe weather. I also have a small cheap 2 M/70 CM hand held radio in case I need a hand held for anything.
In my vehicle, I have a Yaesu dual bander (that covers 2 M and 70 CM) that I use for working local repeaters, and I also have a 10 meter single side band radio in the truck that I use for shooting skip on 10 meters (when the band opens) and it can also serve double duty as a CB. (yes I am aware of the legality issues here)
I do happen to have some basic AM CB radios sitting around that I don't really use anymore. I had a bunch I scored in a big collection for cheap, then sold most of them on eBay, while making money off of them. The ones I have left are not high dollar rigs and don't generate much interest.
