Has anyone had experience the those supplement food tablets for emergency use? Supposed to be for temporary meal replacements or long term supplements added with minimal food sources.

In atleast one episode of the Jetson's the son ran away with his dog and they had "capsules", like a pizza capsule, ham and cheese etc. They ate it as their meal. Well actually the dog couldn't resist and ate them all up at once, lol. I think your stomach would shrink eating those and plus they're highly processed and not fresh.

To me they're like trying to live on vitamins and water. They might keep you alive, but they haven't got the basic cellular building blocks to use for an extended period of time. The exchange of basic vitamins and minerals on a cellular level doesn't fall into a specific time frame - i.e., you might need more potassium tomorrow than you do today - and a lot of what you don't need 'right now' will be excreted. In science fiction, 'food' is often reduced to high-energy supplements, like pills or bars - but especially in growing children, bone and tissue growth or repair could be stunted by total dependence on these things.

actually, they do not provide very many calories, but in an emergency, they are better than starving. I have 7 cases of 24 of them as a supplement to my supplies if SHTF.

Yep, might not be ideal, but they are better than nothing. Which is what most folks will have in a SHTF situation. I don't think many would be caring about how they tasted or that they weren't like a meal at Sizzler, if starving. This could be a good idea for those who aren't really into prepping. They wouldn't take much room in the corner of the closet. Or it could be a good idea for "survival on the run."
