Our planet has always been a dangerous place to live. Look at the utter chaos, destruction, and suffering wrought by World War II. In countries where the destruction was at its worst (arguably in the Soviet Union, Poland, Germany, China, and Japan) there was indeed a genuine and systematic collapse of all norms. Since then, horrific events in places like Cambodia and Rwanda have caused more localized versions of the same. If we just wait more years there will probably be other localized break-downs. Your belief in a more world-wide version of collapse is like a tenet of religious faith in that it is impervious to any sort of dispassionate analysis. You cherry-pick your pieces of "evidence" and the like-minded dismiss everybody else as being "in denial". Let's meet back here one year from now. You and Bchris02 and Be free and Modeeref.

That explains a lot of it.
Not cherry-picking data...
It's only been 11 months - not quite the year I spoke about as being a good time to meet back here - but I thought I'd better try to find this thread while I still could. JordanJP posted that we're all gonna die this year anyway. Well, we'd better hurry up and do so because the year has only 22 days left. I'm sure the OP has not changed his views in just 11 months - for him the collapse will always be just around the corner. It could be 20 years from now and that would still be his refrain.
There have been strange events from the Tcho-Tcho people near the Plateau of Leng to unnaturally rugose Lascar sailors reported in Arkham and Boston.
That is not dead which can eternal lie;
And with strange aeons even death may die.
