The One That Got Away

I just saw this film on Netflix as an Instant. It's the story of the escape of Franz von Werra from a British POW camp at the beginning of World War II. You won't learn how to start a fire without matches but you'll see what a real survivalist is. Von Werra refused to quit. His ordeals seem to be fantasy. But it's a true story. He had no proper equipment, just iron will. Few could equal what he did but we can aspire to do our utmost ands more as he did should we need to do so.

It's available now on Netflix but I've linked to an Amazon product with more reviews. For the survivalist viewer I rank this with Panic in the Year Zero. But this one is a true story and a great movie. See it.

Thanks, Happy!

That looks cool, from the description and reviews. But then, DH and I are interested in historical biographies as well as survival techniques, as well as have a collection of B&W movies from 'those days'.

I recently watched "As far as my feet will carry me" and "The way back", both were also on Netflix (Instant). Great films! I highly recommend them!
The first one is German, but is well worth the "suffering" of reading subtitles
Both will teach you about strong will to live/survive.

Jeff Cooper told of a German Soldier who walked from Siberia back to Germany (2x) killing Russians as needed, for gear, food, clothing, etc.
