Not everybody, but they will be out there, so it is something that you should be prepared to deal with. Plans should be made now. You can hope you never need the plans, but right at the moment you are being attacked is not the moment to try to decide what to do.

I've noticed that the would-be monsters and looters lay out their plans in detail as if they lie awake at night wishing for that fateful day when they will be the rulers in a lawless land. These are people who have done very poorly in life but somehow think they'll finally be successful if only the rules of civilized behavior disappear. They won't; they'll die quickly rather than just lose another job.
Those of us who prepare themselves to defend their holdings need not meditate on the killing. All we need do is determine not to tolerate looters. This will be more diffficult for those who live near cities, particularly in dense suburban neighborhoods. Those who live in small towns and rural areas far from the city can resteasy. The attrition rate of looters will be very high. Ten looters who attack ten houses, one at a time, will almost certainly be dead before they reach the eleventh house. But just to make sure we must determine to consider the only good looter to be a dead looter. Those who escaped the gun confiscation after Katrina formed
ad hoc militias even in the suburbs of a crime-ridden city where they were able to kill hundreds, perhaps thousands, of looters. They were smart enough to dispose of the carrion without discovery; now no one will ever know.
Do not talk about this to your neighbors now; you'll sound like a nut case. Rather, prepare yourself in both mind and body (that definitely includes stockpiling) so that should this unlikely event occur you can stand with the good people of your area to destroy the evil ones. You'll win. Better fed and equipped people always defeat starving ragtag losers.
But always remember that financial dislocation with little or no associated violence is the likely scenario. Have an acceptable form of money at the time so that you may follow Baron Rothschild's dictum to but when there's blood in the streets. That will almost certainly be in a figurative sense.
I knew a person who began buying Bust Half Dollars after reading a mention in the old
Inflation Survival Newsletter about thirty-five years ago. They've gone up decently in value, no more. But the investor became so familiar with them that it was often possible to buy undergraded coins and varieties far below the market price of the old days. That difference is always multiplied in the future.
Tomorrow's wealthy are looking for investments, not dreaming of taking revenge on society.
