I have never seen the Jeremiah Johnson movie but I have read the book Mountain Men by Vardis Fisher and it was a very very good book.

Great choice. And they served him king crab at his homecoming.

My farorite part of the book (after the event):

wife: what's happening? why are you taking a bath?

man: i'm not.Good 1.
Like the previous poster said, the movie is Alive (1993). Unreal.
Just so we are clear, the movie is actually based on a true story: 1972 Andes flight disaster - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Edge! Yes! Total sleeper, well worth watching. That bear was about the ultimate villian. Nicholson could play a better pshyco than Bart the Bear. Lol. Lots of good ss&p movies. Bell, I havent seen Red Dawn(tbe original ) mentioned yet. Good one there.

I don't consider vampires, fantastic beasts, or zombies to be survival concerns. The economy, the whole government financial mess, the whole governmental move from a constitutional government to a dictatorship provide me with ample concerns. A few suitcase nukes might cause some concern; thankfully, I'm far from any likely target areas.

My favorite is classic, Lord of the Flies. Also love Mad Max and Reign of Fire.
