Europeans survived on a diet of domestic dogs, wild cats, foxes and even badgers until just 3,000 years ago, reveals a new study.

Archaeologists found human teeth marks on remains in a cave in Spain, dating back to between 3,100 and 7,200 years ago.

Humans are omnivores that can and do eat just about anything.

Many American Indian tribes ate dog routinely. When you are hungry and in a survival situation it's amazing what you will eat to stay alive.
When the Corps of Discovery, Lewis and Clark were on their expedition, they noted that they ate a lot of dog and horse meat when there was nothing else available.

Fox and coyote are too tough and stringy for regular eating, but beaver, bobcat, even mountain lion are pretty tasty.

First thing you learn about eating off the land, Edible means it won't kill you, it doesn't mean it tastes good.

Hawaiians ate dogs and other folks living in Hawaii did up until about forty to fifty years ago as far as I know. One of our neighbors still has recipes for dog and they used to eat them when she was a small kid. She's in her late seventies now and doesn't eat dogs anymore. They ate special dogs, though, called "poi" dogs that were fed a special diet. She also said the black ones were best or they should at least have a black nose to be tasty.

Aren't guinea pigs called "cuy" or some such when they are eaten? Rabbits are sometimes pets and yet very tasty, too. Maybe we just eat a lot of cows since they don't make good pets?

Their are people who eat these animals all over the world including The U.S.A. today.

Dogs, cats, horses, snakes, birds, small baby pigs, baby goats, etc.

Todays pets are just another great meat sources.

If things go South, you can bet all those American pets that get treated like human children will end up on the spit for their owners in short order. Hunger has a way of "changing the rules" really quick.

Why is this news? Some people consider cows sacred and we eat them. Food is food...

It's meat, isn't it? Animals are animals.

I have plenty of steers on my property and a nice large walk in freezer big enough for 4 sides of beef to be stored at once. my older daughter likes to call the steers her pets too.
