I was at my survival retreat and had the ability to survive by 1975. People who wait to ''bug out'' until they are forced to do so leave themselves exposed to chance.

I was once reading a ''survival'' forum'' on which posters were comparing government facilites in northern California suburbs. People of that sort won't survive anything for long.

Survivalism is a way of life that encompasses everything. Those who cling to their cities and to society can't begin to comprehend this.

I have been learning gardening and have survival skills both for the bush and any where I go.
I raise animals and have plenty of repair skills and resources.
Depending on the event I have storred food and know how to can food as well,
I am on solar wind and battery, and can make the gas I need for running generators and equipment.
I have boats for flood, and am building underground for shelter and storing food .
Flood is unlikely because of my altitude and proximity to valleys
Though california is lible to have an earth quake soon I've been through plenty of them to know what to do .
There is no point to running from an invasion, the best one can do is fight, or at least support those that can.
For antibiodics I make colloidial silver and grow herbs .Very limited medical knowledge but have many of the current books available.
I will likely die before any thing atually happens, but at least those with me might have a fighting chance.

Depends on the SHTF event, intensity, projections, and resource impact. Without knowing what one is bugging out because of, its just some role playing fantasy with no value at all.

How about providing a scenario that can be used to provide a reasonable response using a reality based evaluation of their ability to that scenario?

Exactly!

We're already 'bugged out'. We live in a remote northern area. What we keep in our vehicles are "get home bags". We're independent of the power grid. We have a garden of open-pollinated varieties, and raise our own poultry for eggs and meat. We store over 2,000 gallons of clean water. We no longer work in the cities.

"Bugging out" is not even on our list of survival activities now.

Hey Ho there neighbor

We grow food, raise livestock, hunt, fish, forage, trap and barter; already.

We bugged-out in 2005.

Howdy back, neighbor! Just exactly where do they expect us to 'bug out' TO, when we are already living in the least likely place on the East coast to be overrun by the "golden horde"? There are no guarantees in this life, but I expect our neck of the woods would be pretty safe from urban mobs!

Well considering it's 117 outside right now I'd last until the ice cream melted then life as we knew it would be over. I'd molt, and shrivel up and blow away with the dust.

Seriously? If the SHTF I have my eyes set on a tank at the Armory. I'd say my chances of lasting awhile are pretty good. Cause like the guy on WD said, "The apocolypse don't mean squat when you gotta tank!".

About two weeks into melt down the survivors will be ruled by ruthless gangs. I intend to be the Warrior Princess of the biggest one!

And while we are all delusional keep in mind there's going to be folks out there with Battleships! And military units with more firepower than all the police forces in the country. We will probably pretty much have to do what they say.
