I am kind of a prepper and do not recommend getting too carried away. Too much money. Too many possibilities. No assurance that anything will be needed.
A months worth of food and water and the ability to stay warm and dry? Sure.
Think I over reacted to the last financial crisis. Everything is fine now. Right?
Sometimes fictional presentations are worthwhile. There's an interesting movie currently available on youtube. Its title is Roswell.
Interesting movie.
You know, out of all the thousands (millions?) of UFO sightings that have been reported, I think that Roswell was the one with incontrovertible evidence that it was real - despite all the govt coverups.

That's why I picked the Roswell incident. The Army Air Corps announced that they'd found a saucer; then they said that they'd been wrong; it had been a weather balloon. I don't buy that one and I never will.
I did some reading on the great earthquake of 1906. It struck on April 18 and destroyed 80% of San Francisco. They don't know how many people died - estimates are around 3,000. Between 227,000 and 300,000 people were left homeless according to Wikipedia.
This fault runs 810 miles thru California. No movie can adequately show the extent of the misery another great earthquake would cause.
Here again, I think good buyout bags and an exit plan is a must if you live in California or anywhere else!
I like pictures depicting natural disasters because they show, even unrealistically, what can happen. The most unrealistic part of most of these films is the hero (or heroine ) who saves the day.
My guiding logic - know your area, prepare for the worst that could happen, and treat info from experts (especially the government) about the risk probabilities with a large grain of salt.
