get a copy of your state's fish and game regulations, and look at what's illegal to do/use. :-)

So illegal fishing is going to help you when you want to forage?

I think the OP's point is that in a SHTF situation, no one will be enforcing game laws, and/or if one finds himself in a survival situation, using one of these techniques is better than starving, even if you are prosecuted after the fact (IMHO unlikely).

Nothing like a DuPont spinner,(stick of dynamite) to get your catch of fish quickly.

Of course while that takes care of supper, there aren't any fish of any size left for breakfast.

Killing the goose that lays the golden egg is still a dumb idea. Use skill to get your meals with forethought and planning, and you'll have meals for a long time.

Killing everything just to do it because there isn't anybody around to tell you otherwise is just a quick way to self destruct when the resource is gone.

Excellent

You found a relationship between foraging and fishing. I would not have thought of that one.

Big foraging here is greens, fiddleheads and beech. Smaller ones are mushrooms, ginseng, ramps, raspberries, etc.

Foraging involves trying to collect both vegetable and animal food. The American army once issued what they called a forager's model of the US Model 1873 Springfield. The forager's model was the same frame but a 20 ga. smooth bore barrel.

Those who show contempt for new information of any sort or from any source will never prosper either in the normal world or in troubled times.
