I never understand why people prepare for the LEAST likely occurance
Prepare for a bad winter storm - no
Prepare with a first aid kit for household injuries - no
Prepare for a fire by keeping batteries up to date in smoke detectors - no
Preparing for retirement - no
Prepare for unemployment contingency by keeping 3 to 6 months of liquid assets available - no

Prepare for zombie apocalypse - YES!

The area is rife with caves. I'd find a cave. And ask politely if I could join the people already sheltering there.

I'm not really preparing for nuclear war I just spent $7.50 on some potassium iodide and I probably will put some water in a gallon jug. As I said its partially just a curiosity question.

I guess they exist but I've lived here a long time and never seen any other than Devils Den and the Onyx cave, I would have no idea how to locate a cave.

They are all over. While some have been flooded by Beaver Lake, there's the War Eagle Cavern, the old Civil War Cave, the Old Spanish Treasure Cave, the Bluff Dwellers Cave, Wonderland Cave, Cosmic Cavern, Bear Hollow Cave and numerous others that have no names. More importantly for survivors of nuclear fallout, there are extensive cave/cave tunnels in Carthage,MO and further north to Kansas City. These caves are currently used as massive warehouses, and could actually provide food and other necessities to survivors.

Interesting, thanks your post has been the only useful one so far. Had no idea that there were caves actually being used as warehouses around here.

Here's a video of driving an 18-wheeler into one of the Carthage warehouse caves.
