I tend to agree, except that Cholera tends to be a coastal illness.
Here in the Midwest, it will be salmonella and one or another of the coliform bacterium.
A simple filter will make the water 95% safe, and if they know the least little bit about treatment with bleach, or are able to boil it, they will survive for weeks. Ultimately though, unless they have thought things through, and prepared for the long haul, something will get them. There are just too many things the typical city dweller isn't aware of.

On this I will agree with you.
I was saying that the ones who do know something about water filtration
will not have a very high bar to cross to survive for a while.
Ultimately though, a lot of those that make it over that easy
bar will find there are some big surprises down the road.

Interesting question. My own theory is that if extra terrestrials wanted us dead, we would be dead.

a lot of the population are nuts already-the non preparing side that is.
