I assume you mean post "peak" petroleum world.

Even then, that is currently beyond my life expectancy,
as we now have know resources for another 40+ years.

Well, the only transportation system that will last long-term without a functional globalized industrial system is the horse and buggy...

...although one of these would be nice and you could still use it as a house when it broke down or ran out gas:

Maybe an electric version with a next-gen battery/solar array... park for a week and charge up, then move a few hundred miles and do it again?

Nomadic lifestyle in a post apocalyptic world? Not for me, might have been doable when I was much younger.

Unless you have a passenger with a machine gun, traveling makes one extremely vulnerable. I figure the worst would have higher survivor rates than the best. The raiders would outlive those who could not visualize mankind showing its worst side.

If the creeping insanity gets worse, I plan of going predominantly underground. Might leave the keys in the cars so raiders will be satisfied with driving off with the gas in the car. The buggy uses propane and I do plan on having propane. So I'll stick with my buggy for now.

Anything that looks newish and high tech is going to paint an X on the drivers back. Raiders can hi-jack trains, an auto is hardly a challenge.

I would think one would not want anything that ran on computers of any kind (isn't this just about all modern vehicles now?)...

I know in the "Walking Dead" the one vehicle that has made it through the series so far has been Daryl's motorcycle (older, non-computerized). Very versatile and maneuverable too, can go on a lot of different terrain, get in narrow spaces, good on gas, and is a small target...

Yes, I know, referencing the "W-D" may offend some purists here, but in this instance, maybe they have something....

Motorcycles offer plentiful advantages for sure. Yet they can be taken out with a baseball bat. Plus they are usually loud if off road capable.

Probably the only thing I have against motorcycles is they don't carry a lot of cargo. Big disadvantage in the agriculture arena. They are great for scouting (if you can compensate for the noise) and messenger service. (Not everywhere will be in chaos. I live in an area that will likely see some skirmishes, but will be calm, overall.)

One could rig up an ATV type trailer. ATV is another option for several scenarios.

A-C-C-D-C. Didn't bother to look into the possibility of a Wankel motor actually running on either of the alcohols.

There's a modern version of a Jeep 2CV. It looks very suitable for the aspiring warlord after the total collapse. Don't delay. The transition from Trump's America to the Stone Age will take only seventy-two hours according to former government employee James Wesley Rawles.
