My dam grandkids who got turned socialist commies in college....that's what college iducation does to 'em!...had been trying to put me back into Nursing home again.... they don't like that I setup a Silo full of Walmart goods like canned dog food, Little Debbie pies and neighbors now have varmint complaints with the county! Neither they approve of my bio waste ... and I do mean crap...industrial strength generator that is meant to serve the entire township in current STHF after the last election electin' females that fell out of the ugly tree and hit every branch on the way down...ungrateful uppity lib turd nazis!
The real reason is they think I can't vote from the Nursing home not to mention they're pissed I give all my business to Walmart which they're hating' on!

Sorry pal...I'm hella close, and not just in proximity. I'm a registered Democrat that voted for Clinton and has shaken hands with most of the locals on multiple occasions. It's that pragmatism, and that futile top level vote, that ensure I can still talk with the people I need and to make sure my opposition to the propositions gets counted.
If you're conservative and on the coasts, you learn to keep quiet. Talk is cheap and nobody gets rich fighting city hall. I've seen quite enough "tolerance" and "courage for a change" displayed at some of the big companies to know this is not the time, nor the place, to volunteer a giant target on my back. I'll just take my money. Besides, someone needs to encourage the party to not give in to the Bern. It wouldn't work very well if I were a Republican, would it.

Imho, the USA collapse would be far different than in the USsR. The reason is we have a very different system. The states are in many ways independent of the Fed. Govt. So Washington goes out of business, but the states, with their elected officials, courts, police, county and state continue to function and maintain order.
The electricity went out yesterday during a storm. One of my neighbors cracked me up. I got my lanterns, turned them on, and continued reading my book.
I saw lights outside and took a look. My neighbor had moved their car to the front of their house and turned on the lights. The front door was open to let the light in! They had to be freezing.
Fortunately, the lights were off only a short time. Bet the neighbors went shopping today.
However, I dont think all prepping is complete craziness.
