That is not triage. Triage is based on severity of injuries, not demographic differences determined a priori.

Of course it will. The priorities will vary from place to place,
but there will have to be a decision on who will get better
medical and who will less.

This has gone on behind the scenes with lesser diseases,
and even old age, for decades.

The Daily Mail is a step down from the National Inquirer.
I would take anything they print with a grain of salt. FWIW. if a full on epidemic hit here, we would likely have a similar dilemma. Our aging population overwhelms the number of qualified physicians.

Why hasn’t India reported any cases do you think?
If it flares up there could go off like meth lab...

Most likely, it is there, and they just haven't discovered it, yet.
They are a pluralistic and multicultural society, which means that their ability to know what is going on is badly fragmented. There are elements that will try to treat this virus with ritualistic recipes, diet and herbs, or just ignore it. Just like Iran, by the time they know it is among them, they may have a few hundred cases, or several thousand.

I wonder if there will be a stampede for the border if the virus gets worse. People running away toward a nation that has better health care.

Are you talking about uninsured US citizens heading for Canada?

Possibly. Although I don't think insurance would be a major concern. I believe people will head for a country if they believe they have a better chance of surviving there. Especially if there is a rumor that another country has a cure.

As I have said before, my grandmother was alive during the 1918 flu epidemic. She told me that people became more insular and hypercautious. The authorities were much tougher on people who looked ill. She also said that the medical establishment was overwhelmed and that snake oil salesmen abounded.

There is not a lot of talk locally, just people keeping up with the number of cases. I am hoping that this virus goes away before doing any major harm.
