If power went out for a couple of weeks, I would stay in a hotel. Power does not typically wipe out an entire region. There are always hotels somewhere nearby with power. You might have to go several miles from home, but you will find one. The idea that power would go out "weeks" or "months" is a Mad Max scenario. I don't see that happening and life as we know it would not exist if power went out for "months.
When there is an electrical outage every hotel/motel is filled with utility workers.

power outages when below freezing are really tough on rural props with wells, and relying on thermal heat strips to keep pressure tanks, water heaters, livestock shelters and warming areas for newborn animals, from freezing.
Plus we usually have our tractors / heavy equipment on heaters, and feeding systems. Yes, Genset can help in a pinch, but for a week+... The USA will be wise to develop a distributed grid / generation system.
Right. I was afraid that could be a problem.
But i guess opening a window couple of inches and cooking for a short time would be ok.
Are there particular stoves to cook indoors or any camping gas stove could do? Like the one on my link?
Right now I am dreaming about a cup of hot tea...
Inside my house is 39F.
(Two days no power due to weather, here in Texas. I am not going through that ever again)
Butane and propane camp stoves can be used indoors for short periods of time because of their high efficiency they produce very small amounts of carbon monoxide.
HOWEVER, they shouldn't be used for heating a room, and you should always crack a window or door to ensure ventilation.
