The Farmer's Markets here in Maine, where I have been a vendor, all have policies. A vendor is not allowed to be buying the items they sell. They do their own farm tours to see for themselves how you produce your food.
The state has an annual 'Open Farm' day, where most farms list tour times. If there is any farm that you are interested in buying from, you can check when they are open for tours. go see how they raise livestock. See for yourself if they have grid power, etc.
I have done many tours of my homestead.
If anyone is trying to 'fake' it, such will be obvious.
My wife has a good crop of tomatoes growing along with some cucumbers and squash. She is hoping to get enough tomatoes to can some. If not we will be going to the local farmers markets to get what she needs. She is prepping for another season of canning.

Good for her. I think the last time I tried to "garden" was in about 1980, but I did grow my own bananas and pineapples one year when I lived in Hawaii. The problem with bananas, of course, is that the entire bunch gets ripe all at once, so I ended up setting them outside on a table with a sign saying "Free". They were all gone by the end of the day.
My required reading was mostly 'John Steinbeck' ['Grapes of Wrath', 'Cannery Row', 'Of Mice and Men', 'East of Eden', 'Winter of Our Discontent', 'Tortilla Flat'] To make us leery of bankers and lawyers.
'TIS WISE!
Way back in 1991-2, when circumstances (a lying lawyer and judge who went along) led me to begin reading law for myself, I had been given "enlightenment" - as in discovering that "they" were running a gigantic scam.... based on bribery and fraud. (Didn't you ever suspect why "rich & famous" people escape punishment?)
30 years later, I have not found anything to rebut that conclusion.
IN short, lawyers are [expletives deleted, censored, redacted, excised, and removed].
Of course, usury (charging interest) has been denounced for "only" 3500 years, proscribed by all religions that I checked, and mathematically unsustainable in a finite money token system. Sure, usurers are universally hated, but for some reason billions embrace this serpent to their bosom. Why, even ANGELS FROM HEAVEN come to the assistance of bankers (See: "It's a Wonderful Life"). LOL.
For the record, I was told by a Satanist that they don't like usurers, either. LOL x 2.
I told my wife she may need to get a solar clothes dryer in case the SHTF.
Ionically ironically, I read an article that expressed the opinion that solar hot water heaters "wasted energy" and one should just use their solar photovoltaic panels to heat water. (Just smack 'em upside the haid)
We have one of those. Of course, it works in reverse, if we forget to bring the stuff in, when it rains.
Our screen room has a retractable clothes line. Summer in the south can bring rain every day. Simple BASIC things like that, are very valuable when the power is out.

I am learning...that there is a learning curve on gardening.
Fortunately I have a friend, who has been doing it for decades; who brought seeds back from Italy that do really well in our zone. So he gave me plants already started. Those are doing great, such is not the case with the Johnny's seeds I started indoors...except the tomatoes.
The good seeds I'll be drying and saving come Fall.
