Mamabee, I just wanted to mention to you, that Dick's sporting goods seems to have the best prices we've found locally (discount with a free "Dicks" saver card).
But significantly lower are the prices at Walmart in PA. We get a box of 50 rounds 9mm at Dick's for about $12, but in PA, we get 100 round boxes for $18.
Oh, and in PA they don't ask for your license, unless they think you're underage...
We buy 'em out anytime we're out there (we go to an indoor range in Stroudsburg).
I'm starting to think it would be a good idea to load up on non-perishables. With inflation plus the falling dollar, it makes sense to me. I figure if the SHTF that a person could lose everything overnight. In light of this, I paying off debt out of my retirement funds. My goal is zero debt and this includes my house (which is already paid for).
Anyway, I'd be interested in hearing any thoughts.
We have zero debt, other than our car ( we buy one new at 0% only). We do keep the food in stock and also drinking water, even though we have a well we could use for all else (I just can't stand the taste of the water). The most essential item that adds to that list is toilet paper! Reason? Blizzards. We have been stuck here up to 2 weeks; once it was 3 weeks (in the 1970s) and a 5 mile hike into town wasn't too bad in our 20s but it is a bit much now.
Good to see so many people with at least a thought toward preparing...even for a storm or power outage! Doesn't matter the reason you're stocking up; just that you're doing it--Good work--
Would a stockpile of Soyjoy or Luna bars work? Do I have to cook in all that chaos?
