I love the survivalist flair our board is taking. I'm going to stock up on a boat load of sugar since it's the main ingredient used for making shine. Barter seems to be where we are headed and I'll be able to trade white likker for just about anything I'd ever need. I reckon if things get real bad, I'll pack up all of the essentials and head out to the bug out spot (either my grandfather's ranch or a national forest in the area depending on the conditions and restrictions on travel).
We've been prepared since 9-11. It takes a lot of planning and purchasing, so start now if you're serious. As people argue over the best presidential candidate for the economy, we know ultimately that 1) our beans and rice can't be taxed, 2) we have a "bug out spot" and 3) we have ammo.
There you go. Live in a car. Off the grid...you got heat, power, and a roof over your head. Off the grid.
Until the gas runs out and the battery dies. And gas doesn't preserve, so don't stockpile too much. Maybe keep a second battery. Park near a water source and have means to purify. Don't get sick.

I don't recommend heading for the National forest. A lot of people will be there before you camping out in cars & RVs. You'll have a better chance if you head for the ranch with family & trusted friends.

Gas lasts about 2 years with a stabilizer added to it. Diesel lasts about 10 years when stabilized.

Definetly. If I where to somehow get caught up in some martial law crap though and SHTF before I was able to make it out there, I'd be forced to head for the woods. That said though, I'm pretty sure I'll be ahead of the feds and I'll know full well when it's no longer safe to continue living normally.
Can you imagine what a worldwide Bird Flu outbreak would do now?!
