Love your optimism , but may I suggest a minor correction? Some people will adapt. Many will perish because they will be completely unprepared and won't know what hit them, and also because they have no skills to survive in the world without cars and microwave ovens.
I am not trying to rain on anybody's parade, just trying to see things in a realistic light.
I will worry about this about as much as I worry about my next bowel movement. Technology is a wonderful thing, but it will also be our demise one day.
