I changed over to AT&T U-verse around mid-June. Part of the inducement they offered at the time was "Get $100 Back" for signing up, in the form of a gift card.
We had a vacation scheduled, and numerous obligations after returning from the vacation to attend to so I didn't get around to trying to redeem the $100 gift card until today.
Guess what, it expired the end of July. I can find no place in the original offering that said the gift card has such a short shelf life.
I see they are now offering a "Get $350 Back" inducement on the same package deal I fell for. No wonder they offer such inducements when they know they will not have to honor most of them if people wait to long to claim the credit.
IIRC, the new credit card legislation mandates that gift cards now have to last for five years. So the battle has been fought and won. You might be one of the last casualties.
not really, gifts cards given as promotions are not covered under new rules. only gift cards purchased for use as gifts or under one of the credit card brands are covered.

I'm happy to say that after I called AT&T and complained they promised to send me a new gift card. Still I think this is an underhanded way to do business.

What a scam!
Anyone know a good class action lawsuit attorney?
I actually was given the same deal when I signed up for new service. My service started July 30th, and was told that the gift card would be sent after I kept the service for 30 days. So your gift card must have come really fast if you switched in mid June and it expired in July.. I'll definitely be checking out the expiration date if/when I receive mine.
