MacBook at BestBuy (pricing, discount, store, best)

Best Buy offers $100 gift card for a regular priced MacBook. I'll need to get a MacBook for my son in August before he goes to college. Should I buy it now for the $100 gift card, or wait until August? Thanks for any comments and suggestions.

I would wait, not only will the later one likely have a refresh and be more current hardware wise, if you buy now the warranty will be almost over just when he starts using it.

I'd wait until August. many times, Apple will offer a back to school promotion where you can get free printer and/or iPod with the purchase of a computer. also, several updates are in the works, including a new version of iLife and a new OS, Lion, coming out some point in 2011, I believe.

Give him the money you would spend in Aug and then let him purchase it at the Education Pricing
