Was I the only one to see this coming? I stopped shopping at Walmart earlier this year and have saved money and lost weight....weird.

Today's article explains why....and I thought I was the only one who got so irritated with Walmart and took my business elsewhere.

Walmart Rolls Back Rollbacks: Food Prices at Two-Year High - Yahoo! News (http://news.yahoo.com/s/time/20101013/us_time/08599202385700 - broken link)

Walmart is losing money AND they have to get customers to spend MORE... and their limited selection of prepackaged foods - aren't the healthiest.
I used to like Walmart. Got to save money anyway we can...but I just noticed that I spent MORE when I shopped there. Could be a combination of the register scanning prices higher than the shelf tag (another thread on this already) and a sense of since those pizzas are so cheap...."let's get two". So that could be why my family has lost some weight. We've stopped soda pop all together where we used to STOCK UP on those 79 cents walmart brand sodas.

Not really, and it has nothing to do with Wal*Mart.

You've made lifestyle changes, and stopped buying more food than you needed. It has nothing to do with Wal*Mart, and everything to do with the choices you made.

Why does everybody always try to blame a store for their own bad habits?!

Congrats on making healthier choices. More people should do the same (and no, they - and you - don't have to cut out Wal*Mart to do it).

Yes, I quit shopping at Wal-Mart completely a few months ago when I noticed that they had raised grocery prices considerably AND gotten rid of most of the items I used to go there especially for. I have since found another local grocer with prices way low on those very same items, so I don't need old Wal-Mart anymore. 'Bye Wally!

The obvious has a way of escaping those who don't pay attention.

I used to buy many grocery items at WalMart, (except for fresh meats), and was satisfied that I was getting lower prices, but two of the markets closer to my home are competing on a lot of prices and it's now cheaper to shop their ads. That, combined with the prices at Aldi, have pretty much left Wally World off my shopping list.

There aren't any Super Wal-Marts near here so it's not even a place I consider for food shopping. I have certain things that I buy at certain stores; I get things like produce and tofu and usually meat at Sprouts, most non-food grocery items wherever they're on sale (Kroger or Tom Thumb), etc. I no longer shop at Super Target and I find that instead of spending more, I spend less because the temptation to impulse-buy is absent.

I find that between shopping sales ads and clipping coupons, I do OK.

WalMart also carries fruits, vegetables and healthier food products.
We are the ones who decide which aisle we are going to shop in.
