I have a 50" Vizio in my bedroom; bought it almost 2 years ago. No problems but its hooked to the room's surround sound so I've never heard/used the TV's sound. I've also had/have Sony, Toshiba, Mitsubishi and LG. We have a contract with a home theatre store to service the media in the house. So far they have had to replace/repair one LG (of 4) and the Toshiba. I bought the Vizio myself on a whim at Sam's Club & my son picked it up & installed it up for us .... the store we use for our media doesn't sell Vizio and won't touch it . So, I guess I've sunk to a new low by changing out the LG (42") for the (50") Vizio. I've joined the Walmart genre of electronics customers
I have a five year old 47" Vizio LCD, a three month old 47" Vizio LCD TV and a three month old 55" Vizio LCD TV. I use these for gaming (PS3s), movies, and I use the 55" as a monitor for my media server. No issues, got awesome deals on each of these sets.... so much so that if they broke after a year I wouldn't feel bad buying another one. My five year old set still operates great, the only issue was that the Vizio logo quit lighting up after 3 years...but I actually prefer it that way.
I have not owned a Vizio but I do own a Sony Bravo and bought it 2 yrs ago. It was the latest greatest whatever when we purchased it. I want to throw up thinking how we paid 2500 dollars for it. Well 3 days ago the screen had a lot of shadowing. Now lines are forming in the middle of the screen. I did a google search and apparently these wonderful tv's have big issues. Sony is finally admitting the screens have issues and have offered to replace it for free on certain models. I called them up and they basically told me my model didn't fall under the criteria even though I found many online forums stating my model is one of the problem tv's. I am going to call Sony again as a last ditch effort to see if this problem gets fixed. For 2500 bucks, I would rather buy a lesser brand and not feel so bad if it blows up.
My vizio just did the pop of death, it turns 3yr in June!! After reading up on how to troubleshoot, I am now finding others who had the same thing happen. Never again will we buy a Vizio. What a p.I.t.a.
Have owned a 42" for 2-3 years, have to turn it on, then off, then on for the picture to show up, can't adjust volume for about 45 seconds after power is on. Good picture, but quite inconvenient
Berte,
I have had mine for under 4 years. Be aware, this started happening to me just prior to Thanksgiving, I could not get local channels or any hd signal from an antenna. volume nor menu would respond for a period of time. I went back to satelite, then picture starting looking concaved, yesterday, power would come on then vizio logo light would dim and no picture. did not like response from customer service ( 5 different times) as well as they did not like anyone calling them it seemed
it is now dead and the cost to repair is about what the set cost
I have a 32" Vizio, and have no problems with it at all.
Same here. Bought it last January on sale at Wal-Mart. No issues.
