I hope I am in the correct forum for this question. I recently have been having some back pains so I wanted to purchase a heating pad.

I have a gift card for amazon.com and checked out the pads available on the site. They are mostly made by Sunbeam. Some got decent reviews but there were a couple of REALLY bad reviews.

I have some concern with a pad starting a fire or being too cold or too hot. Do any of you have any opinions on heating pads? Which ones to buy? Dangers invovled?

I used to fall asleep with them on when I was a really little at home.

I have a Sunbeam heating pad and I have never had any problems with it. But I don't usually fall asleep with the heating pad on.
