Do you really love your Dyson Animal? Is it worth the nearly $600.00? I have been through so many vacuum cleaners in the past 4 years and could have bought a Dyson with the money I have spent on these junky machines. So before I go spend the money on a Dyson, just wondering if I can get some feedback. I picked the Animal because I have read the reviews, and the Animal comes back as the best of the line. I would like to hear from some folks here though. Thanks!

My Dyson Animal is probably 5-6 years old. LOVE IT! I did use a 20% off coupon and it was on sale too so I guess I paid about $400 for it.

Due to the economy and such I don't know if I would pay $400 for a vacuum again but if any vacuum is worth it - the Dyson Animal is.

Two of my dog-walking clients own Dyson Animals. They swear by them.

I just got a DC41 Animal and it's amazing. It may be pricey and there may be better bargains out there but this thing will last me a long time and it really sucks hard.

I have a DC 17 animal. I think it's about 6 or 7 years old. I think it's great at picking up dog hair. It's very sturdy. Never needed service.

Downside: Puts off a lot of heat, heavy, no light. I don't think the mini-turbine head (which came with mine) is that easy to use when vacuuming stairs.

Also, I've heard it might void some carpet warranties. But newer models might not have this issue.

I think I paid $550 for mine all those years ago.

Go to woot.com for your Dyson Animal DC28. They sell them occasionally for $310, shipping included. You'll just have to wait until a DC28 comes around again.

Thanks everyone. All the research I did says the DC41 is the better machine so I would really want that particular model or I just wouldn't bother paying anywhere near that price for a vacuum. I am hoping my children will chip in this coming Christmas and get it for me.

I've seen 41s on slickdeals where people have scored them at Kohl's for around $300 -- utilizing coupons, price matching and opening an account.

I bought my Dyson Animal (the purple one) back in 2005 and yes, I spent over $500 on it. I had to think about it a lot and convince myself it was OK to spend that kind of money for a SWEEPER!!! It is an absolute workhorse around the house and I swear by it. I have already told hubby that if it ever dies, I am getting another one. I use it every single day (we have 23 cats in our house) and I have bought a couple of additional filters as well as a new hose (old one sprung a leak). I order directly from the company - it works out great. If you decide to do it you will be amazed at how much dirt is in your carpet and home. The attachments are great, cord is long enough to cover a lot of house, the hose stretches down the basement stairs while the machine stays upstairs, mine came with a cleaning solution and attachment for carpet ( I never used it so I can't tell you about it) and you can turn the beater bar off to sweep rugs and they will not get sucked into the sweeper. If you get one, I think you will be very happy with it. It is a great product.
