I don't consider WalMart a grocery store, nor would I buy any perishable food from there.

PathMark is indeed the worst store I've ever been in.

We don't have any of those here. The closest is Walmart but the nearest superstore is 45 minutes away, and a "neighborhood market" 25 minutes.

I agree with Ohiogirl81, they have great prices on name brand items but I would not get meat or produce there.

I remember Pathmarks in Westchester County, NY -- Port Chester, Yonkers -- they were hideous. Poor lighting, dirty floors. Walked in, walked out (at 2). This was in the late-1980s. Then there was an article in the paper about a rodent infestation at one of the stores. Ick. (And maybe this happens at grocery stores more than we know -- but ICK!)

We don't have any except for Walmart. I shop there except for meat and produce,
Safeway has much better.

Conditions in retail stores in Westchester are the pits. I don't understand why groceries and consumer goods retailing in one of the countries wealthiest and most educated communities reminds me of particularly depressed parts of Appalachia... after an apocalypse.

Dirty floors, unstocked shelves, retail associates that look like zombies but move slower and stare more vacantly. Yonkers is the worst.

Why does everyone hate Walmart? I live near 3 Walmarts and although I rarely shop from them, the stores are always clean and have everything I need in stock. Perhaps people don't like Walmart because it's considered "declasse".... It's a whole lot more "upper-class" than a few Krogers I've seen.

I loathe Wal-Mart...I have 2 supercenters in my hometown...but I never go because they are nasty and the people that work there are rude and hateful...there are no stores on that list except walmart in my town....I love shopping at Publix..I would venture to guess most folks that live in Florida and Ga would agree with me that they are the tops as far as grocery stores go...maybe they are a bit expensive but I would rather pay alittle more and get better service with a smile and get good quality.

I've shopped in Acme, A & P, Ralph's, Walmart and PathMark
IMO Pathmark is the absolute worst, customer service is non existent, variety of food is poor, meat is mediocre and prices high..it's a glorified 7/11 with 7/11 prices.
