We had a power failure last night, and the baby camera plugs into the wall. I'd like be able to put the baby's camera on a Backup-UPS, but I don't that the thing beeping in the event of a power loss. The camera only used 6v dc, 1 watt of power, a ups should be able to keep the camera running for day on battery power. Can anyone recommend one?
I believe APC has the option in their software to disable the "on battery" alarm, but you have to hook it up to a PC and configure it with their software, it will then not beep when the power fails even if it's not connected to a computer. The "low battery" and error beeps I don't think can be disabled.
My boss uses a UPS for his breathing machine while he sleeps and he wanted no beeps, so I disassembled the UPS and removed the speaker.
You could use a UPS, but the inefficiencies of the switching from the 12 volt storage battery to 120 volts and then back down to 6 volts would limit the run time. Use a 6 volt sealed lead acid gel cell and a 1.1 amp trickle charger and eliminate the wall wart.
