Christmas has lost it's true meaning lately. Now it seems people are just out to compete for the best gifts or make sure to buy gifts just to make their kids feel just like all the other kids on the block even if it causes a burden financially. Black Friday is an example of how far society has gone in making Christmas a day of material possesion instead of helping others and remembering Christ. When are we going to start seeing the name change for this holiday take place?

Its only loss it meaning for those who never celebrated it for what it is. No one forces anyone to celebrate it other than how they wish.

yeah don't really see the point of participating in it if you are not going to celebrate the true reason behind the day. Who needs a reason to spend too much $$$? For me I keep toning it down more and more, it is a religious holiday for me.

With more non-Christians in this country than 50 years ago, you would think the holiday would get less popular... inexplicable to me.

Why would you change something if it's working so well?

People are entitled to their opinions I suppose.

MY opinion on the subject is that I am so sick and tired of hearing this. So what if I spend thousands of dollars on the latest and greatest widget on the market for my daughter? How do you know my butt (and hers) isnt sitting in a church for midnight mass?

If you dont like the commercialism of Christmas, dont buy anything. I had a lot of fun shopping on Black Friday (even though I waited for the crowds to die down) and yet I cant count the number of people that wanted to "share" their opinion of Black Friday.

We get it.

Indeed Christmas has become a celebration, where shopping is priority number one, whether it is abundant Christmas dinner and gifts. This is my opinion.
