Do you have memories of any retail chains that are now out of business? I remember going to a Treasury Store in Memphis as a child. It was a JC Penney subsidiary that was a discount retailer, a kind of forerunner to WalMart Supercenter, because you could buy groceries and gasoline at some of them. A distinct characteristic of these stores was a zig-zag roofline.
Up in the North East I remember Zayres which was like a Woolworth and Caldors' and Bradlees which I guess were like a Target store without the food section. My first job was at Bradlees folding clothes, putting up displays. Later I worked at Channel which was a large home improvement store that closed up when the really big Lowes and HD's came to the area.
