Well my experience was the TV ad advertised by the manufacturer an item for $19.95 plus s/h, but wait order now and get 2nd one free, just pay shipping and handling. When calling in to order that deal including the s/h total was $39.90. I did not order as I found the exact same item locally for $12.95 or which made 2 for $24.90. That's $15.00 less than the TV offering.
If the mfg can sell it through a retailer locally for the $12.95 and but selling it on TV for $19.95 plus s/h then someone's getting ripped off, the consumer.
But wait! If you call within the next 15 minutes we'll send you another one at no additional charge, just pay the extra shipping and handling...
That's where many companies make their most profit, on the exorbitant S&H charges. You pay twice for S&H. Too many people fall for this trick.
Yep! I hope everyone had the sense to figure that one out on their own... Like the wire thingy replacements for weed eater string. Life time supply guaranteed. Sure you run out they'll send you a couple at a time with the S&H charges. No skin off their backs. Then of course there's the prayer cloths, holy water, magic beads etc..
Yep, figure this out a while back, and some will have a recurrring charge that you physically have to stop it to prevent it from happening.
Nothing is free, t just a gimic to make you think it a good deal, the consumer mind made up they gotta have it and will over look those "handling" fees.
If it new, give it a month and it will be in a store ;As Seen On TV' section
Same thing occurs on Amazon, Ebay
There will be exact same product one is listed at $1.35 with $4.95 shipping
then one below $5.25 with $ free shipping,
Just gimic and some will have high shipping using the price point to grab.
It consumer responsibility to watch for a sellers tricks.
Rip offs aside, there is overhead to think about. As a person who researched, took, entered, processed, picked, packed and shipped orders at an ag part supply warehouse, it ain't free. I had to get paid, and so did the light bill.
^^^Yes, but far less overhead than a retail shop. And isn't the premise of internet shopping suppose to be the ability to save big $$ over a brick and mortar retailer.
