Because I am trying to eat more healthfully & even though I would rather have a bag of candy corn, I bought a bag of those organic pre-sliced apples in Costco last week. They were all right , certainly not great and even tasted a little artificial . I had left a few slices on an open plate by accident and I figured I would just throw them out (you know how apples get, right?) .
I was surprised to see that they were exactly the same as they had been, no deterioration at all.

This can not be good, actually. What do they put into those apples to preserve them for so long, I wonder and are they even safe to eat ?

I bought a bag at Trader Joe's recently and after being open for a day or two, they had a bad smell. I should have taken them back, but I just threw the rest away.

It's really easy to cut an apply guys. It's cheaper and and they taste better fresh.

Look on the package to see what preservative is used.
Slice some yourself and dip in lemon juice...shake off and put in baggies.
You can even get a sectioner in the Dollar Store.

Wash your apple. Cut it in quarters. (Don't core it) Restore the apple to original shape and put a rubber band around it. It will keep for a day in the fridge. It's the air that turns the apple flesh brown.
