I'm not surprised. I have always thought that they were a "ghetto" version of Walmart. They try to model everything about their stores after Walmart. But their quality seems to be lacking, and their lack of selection is amazing. I have been to Target several times looking for replacing items I needed, and it is surprising how limited their stock is.

I visited a half-dying KMart a few years ago that was even worse. They were nothing more than a very large "general" store, with lots of certain items, and few or zero of others. It's as if they only bought what was available in bulk discount from suppliers. I really think that is similar to the way Target supplies their stores. Just not as extreme.

But Target is more like a combination of a bulk-supply general/drug store with lots of sale items, and a more limited Walmart.

I fail to see how your opinion of Target has any bearing on the story.

Oh, and Walmart (that store that Target is as you say, a ghetto version of), has already had breaches of their own.

Sounds like from experts erports the breach is likely a inside job by employee or such. Alot of agree people tonight on news who say they can't even reach them phone or computer to cancel the target card. Seems a lot of people found out they have been victims.

This affects ANY card used, ATM, standard credit cards, it's not confined to just Targets own card.

I have heard that target open practices age discrimination. Does anyone have data on this?

JPMorgan/Chase just issued a statement that they are putting a $100 cash/$300 charge limit on their debit cards.
And "Oh so sorry but your card is at risk".

JPMorgan Chase limits Chase debit cards used at Target stores

What exactly does this have to do with the subject of this thread?

I canceled my card and asked for a new one. Target just recommends I monitor my card for a few years. Yeah right.

I received communications from Discover's fraud unit regarding suspicious activity on my card. The activity triggering the call was a $220 charge at a Target in Maryland. I do not shop at Target and definitely don't shop in Maryland. So my Discover card is shut down.

I have wondered whether there is a tie-in to this Target incident or whether it was just coincidence.
