I have a broken Electrolux dishwasher that came with the house 2 years ago. The part that needs to be replaced is around $125. I've read several reviews from folks who have had the same issue, replace the part, and then need another expensive part. I'm thinking I should just buy a new one. Do you agree? Which leads me to my next question, would anyone want to buy a broken Electrolux dishwasher- and at what price? It is a really attractive appliance, and in the several hundred dollar-range when new. I would hate to just trash it. Thanks in advance.
So, I just found out that it still runs, but not on a regular basis! I've seen some people selling their very old working dishwashers for $50-$150. How much should I list this one for when it mostly does not work?!
Sell it to a repair place for parts - $25 to $50 - or a chit for one free repair call within 2 years.
With dishwashers and refrigerators, microwaves and washers, I buy the extended warranty for an additional two years above mfg warranty. ONE refrigerator replacement has paid more than everything I have ever paid on all warranty sign-ups.
This ain't your grandfather's appliance store. Almost all appliances now have electronics and control boards made with cheap components.
Our 10 year old dishwasher went on the blink, heating motor, and the service people said it would run about $250.00 to $275.00 for parts and labor. And there was no guarantee something else might go wrong later. They recommended buying a new one since appliances today are built to last about 10 years they are all telling me.
Anytime an appliance breaks I go to the local recycling yard and find the part I need, usually my cost is under $5, and maybe an hour or 2 of time. I can't imagine calling a service person every time something broke
I am assuming this is a rather new dishwasher? If so, I would get it fixed for $125. rather than spend $1000. for a new one.
I have been faced with the same dilemma, but in my case the new part was $400. so that was a no brainer.
Thanks for all of your input. My electrolux dishwasher was 4.5 years old. The reviews made it sound like once you replace one part on it, another will fail in a few months with that model in particular. I ended up selling it for $50 to a handyman & his wife, who were updating their appliances to sell.
