When I lived in Los Angeles I loved Trader Joes. I was so happy when it opened in the Seattle outskirts to the point that wherever I visit different places & I need a good grocery store I seek a Trader Joes, as in places such as Las Vegas, Atlanta, even in the heart of NYC.
Do others have a Trader Joes following, or is it a grocery store that is overhyped because it's a CALIFORNIA COMPANY? (that's a common argument regarding In N Out on this site)

Are you kidding me? Trader Joe's is so freakin awesome. Their prices are very reasonable, they have a really good selection of ethnic and organic foods, and their cheap wine is actually delicious.

That place is excellent. I've recommended TJ's on many a thread.

Love it. We have to drive 2 hours to shop at Trader Joes in Madison. We make the trip every 4- 6 weeks. I love the variety of food and it is all so reasonable.

TJ's was one of the things that I really missed when I moved out of Cali many years ago (and Jimboy's). One opened up in Minneapolis a few years ago and it was awesome all over again.

Now, I am completely baffled as where I live has no Trader Joe's, even though I only live two hours away from Boston. Oh well....

I prefer Whole Foods. I would never go out of my way to shop at Trader Joes but if I lived near one I would patronize it. Just my two cents.

I don't know anyone who has shopped at Trader Joes who doesn't love it. And if they don't love it, my guess is they simply don't shop there or feel ambivalent about it (as opposed to dislike it). And for the poster who prefers Whole Foods...of course Whole Foods is wonderful, but the beauty of Trader Joes is that it is 1/3 the price.

When I lived in Ohio I used to drive to Pittsburgh every couple weeks and shop at Trader Joes. Loved it. Plus, it was in a cool part of the city and I'd always do a little exploring while I was there.

Now I live in Korea and shop at Costco. It's just not the same... *sigh*
