Why they did this to begin with baffles me. As a consumer I would never buy one, and has been proven time and time again, this type of restriction attempt usually gets bypassed quickly, as it has in this case.
They are trying to kill the main selling point of the device: many options for coffee. Smart business move there...
Yup. They're trying to get more money from licensing fees so only select companies can make compatible cups. I suspect it's not working out too well for them.

The whole concept is based on snob appeal, a controlled market, and perceived pampering. A lot of people buy into that. I'd rather just hold the stock.
