I am returning an item to Amazon. When I go to print the return label it is just a large barcode. It this the way they are doing it now?

The barcode page is for you to include with the item you are returning.
Amazon normally provides a UPS label, unless you want to return it via USPS or some other method.
Depending on the return method you choose, you may or may not get a label.
If you are returning it to a 3rd party seller, you may have to return it on your dime, then they will reimburse you.

I finally got the shipping label to print. I set it up for a "UPS pick up" at first and all it would print is a barcode to put inside the package. I cancelled the return and tried it as a "UPS drop off" and the label appeared to be printed. It is odd they did not provide a label or address to ship it to if I was going to have them pick it up.

That is because the UPS driver will have the label aka call tag.
