My husband suggested, out of the blue, that Mike Lindell who manufactures 25K "My Pillow" pillows per day and claims "it's the #1 pillow of the National Sleep Foundation" started the National Sleep Foundation himself ! I saw Lindell on tv at the Democratic National Convention.
"Lindell’s drug abuse finally ended Jan. 16, 2009. By then, My Pillow was starting to gain traction. Lindell HAD BEEN selling the product on the road at trade shows and state fairs. He first began developing the pillow in the early 2000s; when people tried the pillow and loved it, he knew he was on to something."
Lindell had been selling his pillow for six years at trade shows. It's on youtube. I don't know if the interview will show up with this link but he says it at the 14.26 mark.
My Pillow commercials feature relatives giving testimonials. You can see his brother in one of them, they both look alike. My Pillow Lindell is also the founder and president of the Nat'l Sleep Foundation. Such a con. My Pillows are made of shredded foam pieces that you can buy anywhere. You can buy pillows of better quality for less money at most dept. stores.
If you google My Pillow reviews you'll see 1000's of complaints.
Welcome to Business 101. If you put something to market and it sells because of marketing regardless of quality, it's the naive purchasing public that doesn't do their homework that creates rich people like this. Hey, good for Lindell. His gain.
Some stores here do sell it. I've picked one up and felt it and it felt like little individual pieces of lumpy foam. I personally would hate such a pillow. If it were smoother and softer, maybe. The only thing I liked about it was that its supposedly washable and dry-able. Still, you'd have a clean, lumpy pillow!
Good point about relatives giving positive reviews on TV. I've seen people whom I know to be relatives of an author give 5-star reviews to that author's books on Amazon and I'm sure it happens everywhere.
And re the National Sleep Foundation's endorsement of My Pillow, I've read that My Pillow products are only items recommended by the National Sleep Foundation. An endorsement record like that is suspicious enough for me. I've also read announcements that made me wonder if Mr Lindell had bought the Foundation's endorsement.

He's the Founder & President of National Sleep Foundation and the only member. He's a self promoter.
